Inquisitor Pherion

"You are criminal and a murderer who has committed severe crimes against the Imperium and who now wishes to save his immortal soul from the eternal damnation of the Chaos? That is easy my friend. I want you to do those same things you have done, but FOR the Imperium from this day on."

Inquisitor Pherion to a Penal legionnaire assigned to his warband.

Rotring line over W&N inks

So after recovering from a very Snaily commission work, Im back with Punk Moth and finally working for my Inquisitor model!

Inquisitor Pherion of Mars Ruthless leader who trusts in strong faith, rather than brute strength or firepower. Little is known but it seems that Pherion is "old as the stars, as he has described it himself.

Being old and weak, he needs lots of technology to keep himself in pace. For that reason he carries ancient device Preservus-unit, life support system which he had obtained  from the Tech Priests of Mars a long time ago. The device keeps him alive by pumping dozes of drugs and medicines into his veins when needed.

He is armed with a HUGE force sword. (he needs battle stimulants to be able to wield it properly in combat)

He carries the cloak of heroes. a cloak that has been almost entirely covered with purity seals from the long years of service as Imperial Inquisitor. The purity seals give Pherion a ward save against his enemies, but there are so many seals made of parchment that the cloak has become very flammable, so he must avoid flame weapons!

This time I have chosen very Kari-like method for the designing process.
-Im sketching the character first.
-Im using existing GW parts for the conversion (Necromancer & Wizards sprues).
-Im also planning on using W&N inks in the painting stage.

Sidetracked Mercenary

I just finished this epic piece of a commission work. My client, who wants to be referred only as Timeless wanted me to build this piece, based on my earlier commission but with Skaven involved this time.

Awesome project! lot of work though, but equal amount of fun too ;)

Soon these little fellas are packed into box and shipped to US of A to their new home! May the gods of greenstuff offer them a safe journey!

This commission has delayed my work on my =I= warband a bit but now Im back on the game again! Next I must jump headlong into the Punk Moth and catch up Kari before it's too late! The time of Inquisitor has come!!

--

We get queries concerning comissions every now and then and if our =I=miniatures are for sale. So far, we have politely declined most of the offers, but that thing might just change very soon... in a very interesting way ;)

Caterpillar Planning...

OK, the Punk Moth project is back in action, hooyah! Time to wipe out the dust and continue to model the base. As you can see, I'm almost done with the first half of my 2-piece base. Not quite there yet though, still need to add hell-of-a-lot of dirt and junk all around... and paint it!

Designing the interior of the Basilica was very fascinating. I really had to think how the building would work more like a playable diorama rather than just a bulky terrain piece blocking strategic LOS. Also, my intention was to make it look like a real administrative building with an interesting and very playable layout yet easy to move around and manouver. That's where I came up with the idea of separating the building in half, "blowing" its core to the pieces and giving it some air to breathe. When we'll be photoshooting our game, if there's any action happening in the centre of the building, we can just separate the two boards and take nice low angled shots.

But now, lets take a closer look of those numbered areas...

1. Defence turret might be one of the secondary objectives to either of the Inquisitors. Maybe other side needs to destroy it before their pick-up can land on the hi-ground nearby?

2. Cargo area will be filled with the supply boxes and barrels to make the area more like a small labyrinth. It will be great place for some of those okkiW's CQC-specialists to hide and make ambushes.

3. Ruins of Basilica hide many horrific secrets within...

4. This was the southern defence line of the XXII platoon (Fifth Imperial Airbourne Brigade) before they were beaten and forced to flee by the overwhelming counter attack of the opposing force.

5. Public Halls of the Basilica was the main entrance to the building before it was bombed to the ground by the fierce artillery of the opposing force. This hall has many entraces and is perfect spot to ambush any unwary scouts.

Here's some more WIP shots of the board so far...

Ambient Imperium I

It's been a while since I posted anything at the Spikey, shame on me. Well, I think it is time for me to break the radio silence and yell something out...

Today I would like to introduce you to our new series, Ambient Imperium. Ambient Imperium introduces you to the world of noise and music - sounds that the Spiky Rat Pack finds proper to colourize our visions of the Dark Millennium.

The idea for the Ambient Imperium was born when I was gathering mood music to inspire me while I was painting. I wanted to find a certain theme for the soundtrack and before I even knew it, I had a nice collection slow ambient music, buzz noises and chilly hums dug from the depths of the Spotify to put me to the right mood.

Here's the first three to dim your minds...
