Death walks on Stilettos

Greetings!

Still remember me?

Feels like it's ages ago since I have posted anything on Spikey! Once I returned from Cuba and the sunny Carribean beaches I decided that I wanted to come back with a bang. (especially after seeing what Kari has been doing since I was away;)

I remember when I first saw John Blanche's Femme Militant range, it was love at the first sight I tell you that ;)  In the past, I have tried to emulate that style few times (Captain Gaga) but never really got it right.

This time I really wanted to succeed in emulating that style and mood of those Femme's. For the inspiration I managed to dig this image from Tears of Envy's wonderful blog. John has once again created strong character that almost screams for someone to make miniature out of her!

This is the look Im going for...
(see how the silhouette forms "S" the S stands for Serpent ;)

It's a conversion using parts from the Dark Elf Wytches, Crypt Ghouls and Daemonettes sprues. There will also be hell of a lot sculpting to do also. Im now at the blue-tagging phase and many things may still change (I want to get the pose just right). But Im super exited about this at the moment!!!

  1. Good to see you back! Probably fun with all the wonderful snow after sunny Cuba ;)

It looks like you have set yourself quite the challenge, and it is a good one. Hard to tell what is going on at the moment but I'm sure it will be spectacular.

  2. Hey! Good to see you back :) Hope you had a good trip.

The Femmes are my favourite drawings/illustrations/concepts of all time, and the 'Arkke of the Covenant' drawing is one of my favourite of JB's recent drawings, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Have you had a look at the Dark Elf sorceress components? Her hair is in several different parts, so some of that might help if you want more hair and less sculpting.

  3. Shades of Giger's Xenomorph to her too... Very curious to see how she ends up.

  6. the title might seem a little odd but it was intended for the record sleeve of a group of that name - they failed to stay together i think - the only religious reference is a lambs skin hanging from the skirt ....

    1. Speaking of record sleeves, didn't you do album cover art for the UK based thrash metal band Sabbat, did you? Was it just another comission or was there something else behind? They were also featured in WD somewhere around the end of the 80's, in a form of a flexidisc and short article.

  7. That is one creepy, wonderful looking piece by Blanche! It is exciting to see someone with as much talent as yourself trying to put it into model form. Thus far I really like how the bladed whip sort of frames the model, it sort of conveys an elegant grace to the model. I am also glad to see the platform/high heels on the model (something that I have associated with Blanche's work since I first saw the old 2nd edition Sisters of battle codex, with that crazy armoured heel with flames coming out of it, he he). Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see how she progresses!

  8. Great to see you're back, okki, and it seems like you've found quite a worthwile pursuit for your next hobby project ;-) That is certainly one concept that hasn't been done to death yet!

The WIP model already looks very promising! Fantastic idea about using the crypt ghoul hand like that -- I wish I had thought of that!

Looking forward to your next update!

  9. Absolutely stunning piece of art
very inspiring, it speaks to me "do me a model" as well..

John Blanshe artwork have strange allure.
When I was young teen and was first introduced to GW art my favourite were Mark Gibbons super realistic pieces..

But I remember most those somewhat repelling pieces of JB that I studied for hours just unable to stop..

And quite interesting model although looks much better from photo in second post..
