Slaaneshi Cultist

Hopefully everybody had a peaceful Xmas and a jolly good New Year's eve. Now lets start the year 2014 with my latest finished miniature, Slaaneshi cultist.

For some reason I feel that he could use some detail pattern somewhere around his clothing, or maybe even something as bold as a gang tag on his fore head. Other than that, I'm pretty pleased how he came out. The base was pretty much inspired by the works of Migsula and JRN, maybe not that obviously but you can find the resemblances.

The colour scheme for this merry little gang will be apple greens and patinated bronze, along with fiery orange and red as complementary colours. The group will be portrayed as agile and cunning, with the taste of gluttony and lust. My plans are to add couple more skinny-like members, a chubby with a heavy weapon (noize gun maybe?), a standard/icon bearer and a priest of sort. We'll see how that will turn out...

  1. Super nice. What was your thinking in choosing the green?

    1. Thanks phiq! The idea for the green colour came from a painting that I have on my wall. Also, I have been wanting to try green as a main colour for some time, so this was a perfect opportunity for it.

  2. Really great. Can't wait to see more. Only one critque- you might want to cut the grenades apart and glue them on separately so they look less straight and uniform connected together like that. Small detail I guess, still a great mini.

    1. Tim, you are right, the grenades do look a bit silly the way they are, though I won't be ripping 'em off anymore. Thanks for the crit, it's always welcome and needed to make you better in what you do!

  4. Really nice looking model. Wonderful pose and color scheme. The greens are an interesting idea and really instill a mysterious tone not often seen in Slaanesh models. I can't wait to see more!

    1. Cheers Adam Wier. Green is too often tied to Nurglii and I really wanted to try it on Slaanesh. Cassar's gang is red, Wasps are yellow and now this Slaanesh gang will be green. See the pattern? ;)

  5. He does have a joker vibe about him. Really great miniature - for some reason he didn't attach to the round-robin email earlier this week. The ghoul arm veins look vaguely like self-harm scars or swollen from drug use - nicely slaaneshii in a not too immediately obvious over-the-top way.

    1. Cheers mate! Sorry to hear he was blocked from your email, TamTam had the same problem and I resent the pics to her. Must be some problem with the Outlook or something... Ah, the story of the vains never came to my mind, but you always had the right words and really know how to put these idle toy soldiers to life. Perfect idea to put in to his background story. Thanks!

  7. Oh nice work, especially that face. I'm getting a real dirty old man vibe from this one. Perfect for a Slaaneshi cultist. You definately wouldn't leave the kids with him!

  10. This looks great! I was wondering, I need to build a Inq henchman squad for my GK army.

What would you suggest is the best box to use as a base for this style of miniatures?

    1. Thanks Skraaal! GK and GK terminator kits come with many =I= related stuff, so that's a start. For this style of miniatures, you'd also need Empire Flagellant kit (includes great heads, arms and misc stuff to play with) and maybe something for the basic bodywork, like IG Command Squad (good arsenal of basic Imperial army stuff and weapons), Empire Militia or some other similar human kit. If you really want to go for more wicked look, Crypt Ghoul kit comes with good set of mean looking arms. Mix in some Ye Olde Zombie kit with those skinny legs and torsos and you're almost there. Then it is about time to chop the bits and fill the gaps with the greenstuff...

    2. Thanks for the heads up! I bought a box of Flagellants today along with a Imperial Guard Cadian Command box and will get kit bashing on Sunday and Monday when I'm off next.

I'll post pictures of what I manage to create on my website :)

Thanks again and I hope you don't mind me linking to you blog from mine. (http://www.miniature-studio.com/)

      Regards,
      Axel.
