He still looks very much like a standard Astartes and the Corsair isn't that visible yet. The powerhook is already getting some shapes though.

This evening a postman dropped a long waited package in my mailbox. This package included something that I had hoped to own for a quite some time now...
After my last drawing session I decided it was time to improve my equipment. So I did. I went and ordered a Junior set of Rotring Rapidograph pens. The pack included three technical drawing pens (0.10, 0.20 and 0.30) and a fine lead mechanical pencil. I hope that with this high quality set I will raise my spirit of drawing to another zealous level. Got to test them this weekend.
Fantastic start! I think the pose is excellent, subtle but very striking and full of character. I feel too many of GW's new character models (new Asomodai for example) simply lack any sense of life. They would not need a really action filled pose, but something with some consideration to motion would go a long way. Good choice on the head; I think it is one of the best marine heads GW produced and one that he is not just yelling. I also like how substantial you have made the hook arm. Did you use part of a searchlight? I can't wait to see how he progresses. The thought that goes into your models really shows, and it is an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThank you Godwyn. Like that head a lot too. Actually Inquisitor Cassar wears that face already, so I'm between choices of letting that go in this project.
DeleteLooking really good...
ReplyDeleteI've seen many Tue/Art scale marines here and there using either terminator parts or extended marine parts.
But I noticed it looks like you've extended terminator legs and the marine chest piece.
Is that right..? What else did you do on the figure..?
Yes, termies legs and marines chest which have been extended with a thick plasticard. Stole that idea from Migs to be frank.
DeleteWow that is so cool. One thing, do something more with the right arm...its kinda just hanging there now.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tim for the critiq. Now that you mentioned it, I do have to do something with that lazy arm!
DeleteLooks epic to say the least...cannot wait to see what it looks like all painted up.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dan! Looking forward for the painting session too! My hands are already itching from the inspiration overload.
DeleteNice. Are you going to stick with the Terminator thigh armour? It's one of a couple of things that, for me at least, alters the sense of "proper" Power Armour. Or maybe I'm just fussy with design... ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm not that much into standards ;)
DeleteOh Lord! this is just great, you've really cought the shape of migsula's work. hope you will share step by step with us.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up!
Some steppies will be posted, that I can promise.
DeleteSo jealous of those Rotring pens :-)
ReplyDeleteThat left hook is brilliant one could say off the ..erm...hook :-)
Thanks Neil. The hook is just but a dummy atm, early wip, but will be something like that. There'll be cables and stuff hanging from the armament, to make it look more like _power_ hook.
DeleteYour work is F***ing amazing !
ReplyDeleteA really excellent start. For my tastes, the torso is a little narrow and deprives from some of the indomitable bulk that makes the Astartes what they are. Still, really very good indeed.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Molotov, I'm going to add more bulkiness to the torso with greenstuff ;)
