Ultra Cool WIP

Despite the fact that I have lately been overtiming like a dog at work, I still managed to find the energy to go through my limited bits box to search some parts for test marine.

Maybe the gods of green stuff were happy with this because I found pair of terminator legs that I thought I had lost long time ago!

The conversion was simple a hell - Terminator legs + marine arms,head and torso with smoothed shoulder plates... simple as that. The result is Marine that looks like a regular space marine, only bit taller and bulkier - perfect!

Im planning to keep the tactical marines quite plain in detail, while going over the top with Chaplains and other Special characters later on.

Another sunny weekend spent inside...

Whoa! This has been really intense sculpting weekend for me. I feel this little pressure very inspiring friend to work with=) In order to succeed, I must keep pushing no matter what happens -  if I run into problem, instead of just stepping back and thinking too much about it (like I normally do), I must solve it immediately in order to keep things moving. Also by working with two models simultaneously allows me to move on the second model while the first one is curing.

Working this intensely also made me realize that I want to start write my thoughts down more. Steve used to write number of great articles considering sculpting and the scene around it, but since the Spyglass Asylum has been shut down for about two years now, I haven't been able to found anything similar since.

So I guess I could try to do something about that. I don't have the experience like Steve had when he wrote that stuff, but I feel that I might have few things to say nevertheless. For example I could write about different sculpting mediums (GS, ProCreate,Super Sculpey even digital sculpting) and different styles (plastic miniatures compared to resin/metal ones). I think writing about these things would help me to get better artist in the future.

Right now I can't wait what kind of things the future has to offer for me, so you just wait ;)
 

Road To Underhive Part III

Working it hard!

Sometimes (happens to me almost too often) you not happy with your sculpting with fresh putty. Fear not as you can always return to the fully cured sculpt armed with some files and synthetic scouring pad! Use the files to sharpen and redifine the shapes, after you have gotten it right, move to scouring pad to smoothen the roughened surface. 

I also use plastic brush like this to polish the surface once Im happy with the reworked areas.

Road To Underhive Part II

Getcha' pants!

Trying to achieve that Buddle-schoolish simple & well defined look. Once the putty is fully cured, I will go back to them and reshape the areas Im not happy with file & sand paper. I will add all the details (belt/boot buckles) later, obviously.

My goal for the upcoming weekend is to get the torso parts finished for both figures. After that I will start building hands...

Road To Underhive part I

There will be a Confrontation game played at 7th of September.

I will not reveal any more details about it...

I have decided to put up a warband of three scratch built models for the game.

So far only one is finished but not painted.

I have 29 days to finish the rest

The warband will include :

- Senior Officer Enforcer

- Junior Officer Enforcer (sculpted)

- Riot Ogryn

There will by new posts on daily basis. Please consider this as an opportunity to follow at close distance (& almost in real time) about how I put these pieces together =)

Enforcer For Confrontation

Enforcer sculpted for game called Confrontation.

Hoping to finish a squad of three eventually.

Long time since I have attempted a full sculpt. Tried to go for little sleeker and simplified look this time. Did OK, Happy with the legs but everything else seems to be not that great ;) well.. better try harder next time then =)

Her Grace The Deaconess Dowager

May I, your humble sculptor of twisted imagenarium of the desolated 40k universe, present to you the third venerable member of the Femmes Imperum series - Her grace The Deaconess Dowager from the Ecclisiarch Hive.

Character once again based of wonderful John Blanche painting. She really challenced me in many ways - The original painting was perfect starting point - Rather tightly cropped image left many details open for the viewer. I started my project using Dark Eldar parts but as you can see, they got pretty much covered under layers and layers of stuff.

I wanted to give her full court dress as I visioned her to be honoured and high ranking official of the Ecclisiarch Hive. So this time I was able to go pretty over the top with the ceremonial dress and the hair peace.

The Deaconess differs from my previous Femmes having more volume around her curves. Total blast to sculpt from start to finish. Hair peace was pain to sculpt but it was totally worth the trouble. OK enough with the words here she comes...
