Skull Hopperre

Hop hop hop...

+ Skull Hopperre +

Sixta

"Go ond fecce!"

So there's the crazy couple, hunting their prays in the dark corners of the grim universe. I'm pretty pleased how the hopper works together with Kul. Especially notable link is hopper's back plate armour, which is quite similar to Mutie's armoured shoe...

Number six in hopper's banner comes from it being the sixta hopper under Kul's posses. I thought about making the banner look like a target but ended in choosing this option instead. Bullet holes are there though, like someone could actually resist and not to shoot at the fluttering piece of cloth jumping up and down in the ruins of an Imperial cathedral.

And finally, here's a sneak peak from my latest finding. I bought it yesterday and intend to make it as one of my focal point in my hobby. At the moment it's just standing there in the corner, taking space, but after we've moved to our new bigger apartment (yeah, moving, again, argh!) this thing will raise my creative horizon to new heights...

Onwards to new projects!

Mutie Kul it be, first member to be finished in my Inquisitor's retinue. I used lots of inks and washes this time, utilizing dirty painting technique (introduced to us by Steve Buddle in his blog Spyglass Asylum) and that sort of styles to haste the painting session. Loved the freedome of the new methods, really made me feel more, well - I quote Migsula and J.B. here - more elemental!

I still wanted to add some sharp detaild to his equipment with more traditional freehanding, just to bind him more with his portrated version. Colour palette was much more restricted than it usually is in my case, leaning more to different wash shades and inks.

More to follow...

Mutie - Some Progress With The Feet

I followed my instincts and decided to rip Mutie from his base and put high heels on him. Here's couple of WIP-shots...

Left foot is almost ready, heel is still waiting for the maker. Not sure if I'll be doing identical right foot or go with the twist and do odd one instead...

Hunted Is The Hunter

Some progress with Mutie Kul mini...

And then some thoughts... Relation between Kul and his skullhopper is quite simple; hopper tracks and hunts enemies, draws their gunfire at it and then Kul pops the hostile heads into gibs with his bolt pistol. This way the one that hunts the hopper will be hunted by the mutie.

Hopper will have a small flag on its shoulders - with a target sign on it - just so that it'd be more desirable and obvious target for the opposing force. This is Kul's sixth hopper... Mutie Kul himself is carrying bolt pistol, some ammunition, frag grenades and a small family coat-of-arms.

I'm quite pleased to the outcome so far, especially in my greenstuffin' "skills" (it has been some time from my last 'putting, you know). Even though I've discarded some of the details seen in the drawing, there is still relative strong bond between the miniature version and the drawn one. Not sure if I'm gonna do those feminine boots for him, after all, they're my favourite part...

A Peek Into The Rat Hole

Cpt. Gaga is steadily closing to finish, at last! Almost made the base ready for her. Still need to finish some little details and then, well, I'm ready to do some photoshooting...

Cpt. based

I also started some kit-bashing for my INQ project, 3D sketching Mutie Kul and his familiar, skullhopper. I think I'll take some liberties from the drawn version, otherwise I end up greenstuffing the whole thing from the scratch or hunting the bits for ages.

An Excercise In Watercolors

I had an urgent desire to try my son's watercolors that were lying around our kitchen table. Here's the outcome...

Mutie Kul (watercolors, white acrylic paint and black ink pen)

Servo Skulls (watercolors, white acrylic paint and black ink pen)

The painting process was actually very pleasant, more than I thought. I really enjoyed the free flow that the watercolors gave me. It's been some time since the last time I tried to paint something with these instruments. I guess it was back in the high school. I remember hating them back then, maybe because I felt that I was forced to use them... Well, times change apparently.
